As a follow-up to our unit on political cartoons, I thought some of you might be interested in these two New York Times columns about political cartoonists discussing their efforts in depicting the presidential and vice presidential nominees.

After seeing those political cartoons, I find myself having admiration for the artists depicting the candidates. They have to understand the issues deeper than most and find a way to bring humor to even the darkest issues. Even though they do not sway my vote, they do bring some enjoyment to the nastiest of elections. Thank you for sharing the link!

After looking at these articles, I was greatly surprised by favoritism that took place in the depictions of the candidates. Through these depictions, Obama was mostly shown as the stronger candidate while McCain and Palin were often made into complete jokes, to the point where it could potentially be seen as tasteless. I really enjoy looking at political cartoons, not necessarily to base my deicisions off of, but rather to see the various opinions that fellow Americans have about the candidates.
